Protecting the Historic fabric of the Town Centre

In partnership with the Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme a low cost gutter cleaning service has been provided and used throughout the town centre. This has been made possible by a local contractor providing a 'Cherry Picker' to undertake this work whilst meeting current Health & Safety requirements.

As the majority of town centre buildings are three or four storeys high the gutters in the past have been neglected and unseen water ingress has caused many thousands of pounds of damage to these buildings. Money that would otherwise be used for these repairs can now be used for the general upkeep of the building thereby enhancing the visual appearance of the town and its historic buildings.
